Ring with opal, spinel, white topaz and cubic zirconia

Ring No. 18, crafted in rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver, features an 8mm cabochon-cut Welo opal, 1mm faceted black spinels, and 3mm faceted white topazes. The design places the opal in the center, surrounded by spinels, and flanked by topazes set with cubic zirconia. It is a delicate yet striking ring.

Spinel is a double oxide of aluminum and magnesium with a very complex structure. Spinel was not recognized as an independent mineral until 150 years ago; before then, it was classified as a ruby.
