This 38 x 20 mm pendant is handcrafted in 925 sterling silver. It features a beautiful rectangular polished cabochon turquoise, 18 x 14 mm, with greenish hues indicative of its Chinese origin. The pendant is adorned with filigree work and silver spheres surrounding the stone, and a chain loop completes its elegant design.
It takes its name from Turkey, the country where the Crusaders first encountered the stone. According to ancient beliefs, turquoise warned its wearers of imminent danger when the stone changed color. The deposits in Sinai, Egypt, mined since 4000 BC, are now of historical value only.
