Green Tourmaline Ring

Ring size 19, made of high-purity 950 silver. The 7 x 5 mm green tourmaline, from Brazil, is set with prongs, raising it slightly above the band and allowing light to enter from the sides. The structure consists of two hoops joined to the base, creating a simple yet delicate ring.

The elements that give tourmalines their green hue are vanadium, chromium, or iron. The greatest admirer of tourmalines was Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled China from 1860 to 1908. The Empress used the stone in carvings, on watch chain clasps, and on the buttons of jackets worn by the Imperial Court.
