Black obsidian and peridot pendant

This 63 x 42 mm pendant is crafted from high-purity 950 silver, featuring a large 41 x 25 mm black obsidian cabochon framed by a silver bezel-set ring, and accompanied by a 10 x 8 mm oval faceted peridot prong-set. Black Obsidian:

Obsidian is not a mineral in the strict sense, but a glassy rock, very rich in silica, that originates from the rapid solidification of magma. Its characteristics and appearance, as well as its widespread distribution, have made it famous since antiquity and have led to its use in rituals and ornamentation. Obsidian, along with flint, is known as "the warrior's rocks." Rainbow obsidian owes its iridescent colors to the presence of microbubbles of water trapped during its formation. In certain Stone Age cultures and early civilizations, it was highly valued because it could be used to make very sharp blades. Mesoamerican cultures used obsidian to make tools, ornaments, and weapons.
