Black Diamond Ring

Black diamond, also known as carbonado, is the hardest natural variety of diamond, a polycrystalline agglomerate of amorphous carbon, graphite, and diamond crystals. Black diamonds reach a maximum of 10 on the Mohs scale and cannot be altered by anything except other diamonds. They are opaque, porous, and produce no light refraction or brilliance.

Natural black diamonds are generally opaque but have metallic reflections, although different qualities exist. Natural black diamonds are also typically difficult to polish and cut.
