Aragonite

28g raw aragonite. This beautiful specimen of high-purity aragonite comes from Madagascar. The stone measures 45x30x30 mm and has a shape popularly known as an "aragonite pineapple" due to its multiple twins. Its golden-brown color and vitreous luster are particularly striking.

Aragonite is one of the crystalline forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It can be found in the form of stalactites, and also in the shells of almost all mollusks and in the skeletons of corals. Among the varieties of aragonite, the so-called flos-ferri (iron flower) stands out, resembling a beautiful coral. In nature, aragonite commonly occurs as multiple twins, which give it the appearance of a hexagonal prism (although aragonite does not have a hexagonal crystal structure, hence the term pseudohexagonal).
