Amethyst pendant

This 32 x 13 mm pendant is crafted from high-purity 950 silver. It features two amethyst stones of varying shades within the characteristic violet range. The upper stone, measuring 8 mm, is a polished cabochon, while the lower stone is faceted in a 10 x 10 mm square. Both stones are prong-set to allow light to enter and highlight the vibrant color of these amethysts.

According to Greek mythology, Dionysus, the god of wine, desired a maiden named Amethystos. She wished to remain chaste and prayed to the gods for help. The goddess Artemis heard her prayers, transforming her into a transparent crystal. When Dionysus learned of this, humiliated, he poured wine over the rock, staining it purple. The Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst cups to avoid drunkenness.
