Peridot, Blue Topaz and Amethyst Earrings

These 46 x 16 mm hoop earrings are made of rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver and feature hand-faceted natural stones in oval and round cuts. They include six 3 mm diameter round peridots, two 5 x 3 mm oval blue topazes, and one 5 x 3 mm oval amethyst at the bottom. The earrings are shaped like a seashell.

Peridot:

The modern term “peridot” derives from the Arabic word faridat, meaning “gem.” In the Middle Ages, it was widely used by the Church. It was the preferred gemstone of the Baroque era. Peridot was already being used in Egypt as a gem and healing stone two thousand years before Christ. This mineral is also known as chrysolite.

The Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst cups to avoid drunkenness.
