Blue Labradorite Pendant

This 35 x 26 mm pendant is crafted with a high-purity 950 silver pin and features a hand-carved blue labradorite in the shape of a Buddha, measuring 23 x 26 mm. When light strikes this beautiful stone, the phenomenon known as labradorescence is observed, revealing blue and greenish tones.

It was first discovered in 1770 on the Labrador Peninsula, Canada. Ranging from translucent to opaque, it can occur in whitish, dark gray, or grayish-black colors with bright metallic reflections of blue or green. These reflections are due to an optical effect called labradorescence, which is produced by the diffraction of light as it strikes the lattice planes of the stone's structure: the albite and anorthite layers, the polysynthetic twinning, and the inclusions.
