Blue agate or blue lace ring

Size 21 ring made of high-purity 950 silver, featuring a large, polished oval cabochon (20 x 16 mm) of Blue Lace Agate. The ring has a simple design with a double silver band and a box setting with a bezel clasp.

Blue agate is a subvariety of quartz that occurs in concentric bands alternating between white and blue. It forms in cavities of volcanic rocks where hot, silica-rich (SiO2) solutions seep in. Variations in the impurities of the solution and the conditions under which the minerals are deposited give rise to the different layers.

Currently in China and India, blue agate is a gemstone prized for its role in Buddhism.
