Tourmalinated Quartz Ring

Ring, sizes 16 to 21, crafted in high-purity 950 silver with an 8mm circular faceted tourmalinated quartz. The quartz's transparency reveals the black tourmaline that runs through its center. The stone is held in place by prongs, allowing light to enter and showcase its beauty.

According to Celtic oral tradition, quartz crystals were believed to be the fangs of dragons and therefore guardians of ancestral wisdom, the rhythms of nature, and environmental richness. Nero had two cups carved from quartz to drink from on celebratory occasions, as he believed it was a symbol of divine favor. Pliny supported the idea that quartz was a frozen chemical and that it came from the coldest regions of the Alps.

The greatest admirer of tourmalines was Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled China from 1860 to 1908. She used the stone in carvings, on watch chain clasps, and on the buttons of jackets worn by the Imperial Court and other important figures. The Empress now rests on a tourmaline cushion.
