The green tourmaline crystal in this striking ring stands out for its faceted "ROSE" cut, which showcases its handcrafted cuts and facets towards the top. The design features this large, 13 x 10 mm, 18-carat tourmaline, bezel-set on a wide band with openwork flowers on either side. It is a unique, original design due to the characteristics of the stone and the chosen setting.
The elements that give tourmalines their green hue are vanadium, chromium, or iron. The greatest admirer of tourmalines was Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled China from 1860 to 1908. The Empress used the stone in carvings, on watch chain clasps, and on the buttons of jackets worn by the Imperial Court.
