Amethyst earrings

Hoop earrings measuring 34 x 14 mm, crafted from high-purity 950 silver, featuring polished cabochon amethyst stones in a 10 mm circular and 13 x 13 mm square format. The square amethysts hang freely from the circular ones, which are secured with a pin and butterfly back.

According to Greek mythology, Dionysus, the god of wine, desired a maiden named Amethystos. She wished to remain chaste and prayed to the gods for help. The goddess Artemis heard her prayers, transforming her into a transparent crystal. When Dionysus learned of this, humiliated, he poured wine over the rock, staining it purple. The Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst cups to avoid drunkenness.
