Malachite and onyx pendant with 45cm chain

Pendant crafted in 925 sterling silver with malachite and onyx cabochon-cut stones (12 x 8 mm). The pendant features a leaf design, alternating the two stones with other stones set entirely in silver. This pendant comes with a 45 cm sterling silver chain.

Malachite:

The importation of this carbonate as a mineral is due to the high presence or abundance of copper within the gem. The name given to this mineral comes from the Greeks; their word referred solely to the color of the rock itself, not the gem. In the Middle Ages, malachite was believed to relieve menstrual pain and facilitate childbirth, which is why it is currently known as the midwife's stone.
