Amethyst and red tourmaline earrings

9 x 9 mm hoop earrings crafted in rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver, set with faceted amethyst and red tourmaline stones. The square design features two oval amethysts alternating with four circular tourmalines. They fasten with a post and butterfly clasp.

Amethyst :

According to Greek mythology, Dionysus, the god of wine, desired a maiden named Amethystos. She wished to remain chaste and prayed to the gods for help. The goddess Artemis heard her prayers, transforming her into a transparent crystal. When Dionysus learned of this, humiliated, he poured wine over the rock, staining it purple. The Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst cups to avoid drunkenness.
