Sapphire and amethyst earrings

Hoop earrings measuring 13 x 7 mm, crafted in rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver, featuring a polished oval cabochon-cut blue sapphire measuring 8 x 6 mm and a round faceted amethyst measuring 3 mm. The design incorporates the amethyst positioned at the hoop's clasp, from which the sapphire hangs. The clasp is a post and wing nut.

Amethyst:

According to Greek mythology, Dionysus, the god of wine, desired a maiden named Amethystos. She wished to remain chaste and prayed to the gods for help. The goddess Artemis heard her prayers, transforming her into a transparent crystal. When Dionysus learned of this, humiliated, he poured wine over the rock, staining it purple. The Greeks and Romans drank from amethyst cups to avoid drunkenness.
