Weighing 4.5 kg, measuring 44 cm in height, 17 cm in width, and 12 cm in depth, this sculpture depicts a classical ballet dancer. With arms drawn back, a bare torso, and crossed legs, the piece represents a ballerina in the midst of a performance, suspended in the air, displaced from her base. It features pink tones alternating with white and is supported by a dark green base with iridescent brown veins.
This incredible work expresses art within art. The artist carves dance as an expression in stone. With arms outstretched and thrown back, depicted like wings, a narrow waist, and crossed legs, the work conveys a sense of both freedom and movement, with fine and delicate curves achieved by expert hands. The woman was crafted from pink dolomite with white veins, simulating skin heated by dance, while her dark green base with iridescent brown veins is made of Harzburgite.
Both stones come from a quarry located in the south of the province of Córdoba, Argentina, specially selected for this work by the artist.
