Emerald and Peridot Ring

Ring No. 18 crafted in rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver with faceted peridot and emerald stones. The design features twelve oval-cut peridots (6 x 4 mm) set with prongs and accompanied by 2 mm circular faceted emeralds. The emeralds are positioned at four points forming a cross on the ring's band. Their tones both complement and contrast beautifully.

Emerald:

The green color comes from a mixture of other minerals, including chromium, vanadium, and iron, which gives it a bluish tint. In natural light, the true essence of emeralds is easier to discern, while artificial light can expose internal fractures in the stone caused by the glare. In ancient European and Indian cultures, the emerald was associated with Mercury, the messenger of the gods and the god of journeys, sleep, and dreams, and was therefore considered the stone of divine inspiration.

Peridot:

The modern term “peridot” derives from the Arabic word faridat, meaning “gem.” In the Middle Ages, it was widely used by the Church. It was the preferred gemstone of the Baroque era. Peridot was already being used in Egypt as a gem and healing stone two thousand years before Christ. This mineral is also known as chrysolite.
