Prehnite Ring

Ring, sizes 13 to 19, entirely handcrafted in high-purity 950 silver. This piece is crowned by a 20x14 mm pale green prehnite with darker veins. The stone has a faceted oval cut and prong settings to enhance its diffraction properties. The ring band features a delicate silver filigree design, making this jewel a truly unique piece of jewelry.

It is named after its discoverer, the Dutch colonel H. Van Prehn, who first found it in 1774 at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. This honor was bestowed upon him by the German scientist Abraham Gottlob Werner. Most gem-quality prehnite comes from Australia. It is a calcium aluminum aluminosilicate, although up to 7% of the aluminum may be replaced by iron.
