This 32 x 16 mm pendant is crafted from high-purity 950 silver and features an exquisite, deep green tourmaline, hand-faceted in an 8 x 6 mm oval cut. The stone is set in a closed box, framed by a silver cup with textured details. It is a rustic yet delicate and elegant piece.
The elements that give tourmalines their green hue are vanadium, chromium, or iron. The greatest admirer of tourmalines was Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled China from 1860 to 1908. The Empress used the stone in carvings, on watch chain clasps, and on the buttons of jackets worn by the Imperial Court.
