Prehnite and Moonstone Pendant

This 56 x 22 mm pendant is crafted from high-purity 950 silver and features two polished cabochons, one oval and one triangular. At the top is an oval prehnite (17 x 13 mm) set with prongs, followed by a triangular moonstone (19 x 16 mm) set in a silver case. Silver filigree embellishments further enhance the piece.

Prehnite

It is named after its discoverer, the Dutch colonel H. Van Prehn, who first found it in 1774 at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. This honor was bestowed upon him by the German scientist Abraham Gottlob Werner. Most gem-quality prehnite comes from Australia. It is a calcium aluminum aluminosilicate, although up to 7% of the aluminum may be replaced by iron.
