Blue opal and cubic zirconia ring

Ring No. 14 made of rhodium-plated 925 silver, with an 8 x 6 mm oval-cut faceted Australian blue opal surrounded by delicate cubic zirconia, which add shine and elegance.

Opal forms secondarily as a result of the dehydration solidification of silicic acid gel. From silicic acid in the form of gel droplets, silicon dioxide microspheres (20% water and gas) are formed. The play of colors in opal is due to the refraction of light by the cristobalite microspheres; blue opal owes its color to small copper inclusions.

In Greek mythology, she was said to have sprung from the tears of Zeus's joy after his victory over the Titans. In India, she is the goddess of the rainbow, solidified into stone when she fled from the troublesome gods.
