A 6 kg sculpture, 46 cm high, 26 cm wide, and 26 cm deep, crafted in the shape of a heron. This incredible sculpture was handmade from white onyx, with a fluorite beak and base.
The sculpture reflects the artist's deep connection to the natural wealth of Brazil, a country where water, rainforest, and wildlife coexist in dynamic equilibrium. Inspired by the serene elegance of white herons, birds that embody patience, vigilance, and grace, the artist sought to capture that instant suspended in time: the moment when the bird calmly observes its surroundings before spreading its wings or dipping its beak into the water.
The use of translucent white onyx for the body evokes the purity and softness of feathers in the sunlight, while the fluorite beak, with its natural veining, suggests the variety of colors present in the Brazilian skies and waters at sunset. The metal legs recall the bird's steadiness perched among reeds or on damp stones, and the purple stone base symbolizes the living and mysterious earth of the tropical biome, rich in minerals and life.
More than a simple naturalistic representation, this sculpture is a celebration of the harmony between the ethereal and the earthly, between the fragility of life and the strength of the mineral. It is also a way of paying homage to the contemplative spirit of South American fauna, which for the artist represents a balance to which humankind should aspire.
Fluorite comes from southern Córdoba, while white onyx comes from Mendoza, both Argentine provinces.
