Ring No. 17, crafted in 950 silver, features a large, oval-faceted imperial topaz measuring 12 x 10 mm. This beautiful topaz is unique in that it has characteristic brown sections interspersed with the blues typical of blue topaz, hence its bi-color design. It is a robust and elegant signet-style ring.
The designation "Imperial" for this type of topaz originated in Russia, the location of the first fields, now depleted, during the Tsarist period. Imperial topaz was considered the stone of the sun.
Its reddish-orange color is due to traces of chromium, iron, manganese, titanium, and vanadium. Topazes are valued according to their color. From least to most valuable, they are yellow, orange, red, pink, cherry, lilac, and salmon, which is the most expensive and valuable.
