Prehnite Ring

Ring size 21, entirely handcrafted in high-purity 950 silver. This piece is crowned with an 18mm Prehnite, a uniform pale green with internal bar-like markings of a deep green hue. The stone is faceted in a circular shape and prong-set on a double band that splits at the prongs for added stability.

It is named after its discoverer, the Dutch colonel H. Van Prehn, who first found it in 1774 at the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa. This honor was bestowed upon him by the German scientist Abraham Gottlob Werner. Most gem-quality prehnite comes from Australia. It is a calcium aluminum aluminosilicate, although up to 7% of the aluminum may be replaced by iron.
