Blue Labradorite Bracelet

Slave-style bracelet crafted in high-purity 950 silver. This piece features a beautiful 30 x 24 mm blue labradorite cabochon. The stone is bezel-set, displaying a translucent brownish-green hue that reveals the natural cracks of the stone. When light strikes it at different angles, it displays the characteristic blue labradorescence of this gemstone.

It was first discovered in 1770 on the Labrador Peninsula, Canada. Ranging from translucent to opaque, it can occur in whitish, dark gray, or grayish-black colors with bright metallic reflections of blue or green. These reflections are due to an optical effect called labradorescence, which is produced by the diffraction of light as it strikes the lattice planes of the stone's structure: the albite and anorthite layers, the polysynthetic twinning, and the inclusions.
