Welo Opal Ring and Multicolored Tourmalines

Size 18 ring made of rhodium-plated 925 sterling silver. The centerpiece is an oval cabochon-cut Ethiopian Welo opal, surrounded by multicolored tourmalines arranged randomly in a crown-like design. The tourmalines are faceted in various shapes and display shades of pink, green, brown, and blue. All stones are prong-set. While the colors are diverse, they perfectly complement the opalescent tones of this beautiful Ethiopian opal.

Opal welo:

The play of colors in opal is due to the refraction of light within the cristobalite microspheres. In Greek mythology, it was said to have originated from the tears of Zeus's good fortune after his victory over the Titans.
